Rajasthan Royals (RR) speedsterNandre Burger has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct during a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He has also received one demerit point, according to an official IPL statement released on Thursday.

Why was Nandre Burger fined?

The issue was related to Article 2.5 of the code, which deals with using words, actions, or gestures that could insult or provoke another player. Burger accepted the mistake. Since this was a Level 1 offence, the match referee’s decision is final.

"Nandre Burger, Bowler, Rajasthan Royals (RR) has been fined 10 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)," the statement added.

LSG vs RR match report

In the match, Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs. LSG chose to bowl first, and their bowlers, Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, and Mohsin Khan, picked up two wickets each, restricting Rajasthan to 159 for 6. Ravindra Jadeja was the top scorer for Rajasthan with an unbeaten 43 runs from 29 balls.

While chasing 160, Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 119 runs in 18 overs. Jofra Archer was the standout bowler for Rajasthan, taking 3 wickets for just 20 runs.

IPL points table after LSG vs RR clash

RR, who were on the back foot after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), climbed up the points table to second position. The Rajasthan-based franchise pushed Sunrisers Hyderabad to third and Royal Challengers Bengaluru to 4th. On the other hand, LSG remain ninth on the table with 4 points in 7 matches.
