IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) returned to winning ways after two back-to-back victories against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC), after suffering three consecutive defeats this season. While the five-time champions are focusing on their redemption in the IPL 2026, their match against RCB on April 5 has triggered an unwanted controversy.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the CSK management has filed a complaint with the BCCI against the choice of songs and comments made by the DJ during their match against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In its complaint, CSK said that DJ's choice to play the "Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Chutney, Chutney" track before their innings "was not in good taste."
CSK Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan flagged the songs played at the stadium and said, "The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it."
The IPL governing council has also acknowledged the complaint and started its probe into the incident. "We have received a complaint from CSK and are looking into it," a top IPL official said, as quoted by The Indian Express.
The CSK has also objected to certain comments made by the DJ after the dismissal of CSK players during the match against RCB. The team management said that while the DJ's job is to cheer the crowd and maintain a positive atmosphere, they cannot undermine the rival players. "They are not there to undermine the rivals or insult them," a CSK official said, as quoted by The Indian Express.
"Dosa, Idli, Sambar" Song Controversy:
The row over the "Dosa Idli, Sambar" is not new and is often mentioned during the CSK vs RCB clash, which is termed as the Southern Derby by fans. The controversy began last year, when RCB wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma was seen singing the viral song in a video posted by the team on its X handle. The video started a debate between the fans on social media, with trolls targeting players of both teams.

CSK management then stepped in to diffuse the situation and instructed the players not to indulge in any bickering against opposition players and fans. Commenting on last year's incident, Kasi Viswanathan said, "After that incident, there hasn’t been any repeat of it. The DJ isn’t supposed to make any comment on the opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that cheers us in numbers."
