Lucknow Super Giants lost by 40 runs to Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2026 match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Chasing a target of 160, hosts LSG never really settled into the game and were eventually bowled out for 119 in 18 overs. Their batting kept losing shape as wickets fell at regular intervals, which made the chase difficult from the start.
The moment that shifted the game came when captain Rishabh Pant got out while attempting a sweep shot. That dismissal led to a quick collapse, and LSG were never able to recover from there.
Mitchell Marsh tried to hold the innings together with a fighting 55 off 41 balls, but he didn’t get much support from the other batters. Players like Nicholas Pooran got out playing risky shots, which only added to LSG’s troubles.
Earlier in the match, LSG bowlers had done a good job to keep Rajasthan Royals to 159 for 6. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 30, bowling some quality deliveries and picking up key wickets. Mohsin Khan also bowled very well, finishing with 2 for 17 and keeping things tight.
Prince Yadav also chipped in with two wickets, while Mayank Yadav had a tough outing on his return, going wicketless and leaking runs.
Shami made early inroads by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel in quick succession. Mohsin then added pressure by removing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Shimron Hetmyer, keeping Rajasthan under control for most of their innings.
Even though RR didn’t bat fluently, Ravindra Jadeja played a steady knock of 43 not out from 29 balls, which helped them reach a competitive total. He also made an impact with the ball, contributing in both departments.
In the second innings, Jofra Archer stood out with the ball, taking 3 for 20 and breaking the backbone of LSG’s chase.
LSG also faced questions over their tactics, especially the decision to use Himmat Singh as an impact player, which didn’t really work out for them in this match.
Brief Scores:
Rajasthan Royals: 159 for 6 in 20 overs (Ravindra Jadeja 43 not out; Mohsin Khan 2/17).
Lucknow Super Giants: 119 all out in 18 overs (Mitchell Marsh 55; Jofra Archer 3/20).
