Indian Premier League (IPL) giants Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns against each other for the first time in the 19th edition of the cash-rich league, which is scheduled to take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Ahead of the high-voltage clash, MI have shared an update on the fitness of Rohit Sharma, who has been out of action due to injury.
How Rohit Sharma got injured?
Rohit picked up a hamstring injury during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which forced him to retire hurt. Since then, he has missed two matches for MI. In his absence, the team brought in Danish Malewar in the previous game against Gujarat Titans (GT).

A team spokesperson said Rohit is working hard to get back to full fitness. He was recently seen in the nets with his injured leg strapped, trying to test his movement. He was also spotted spending time with his children before the team’s practice session. His participation in the CSK match is still not confirmed. This means that the former MI captain is not 100 per cent fit and there are chances that he will miss MI's upcoming clash against CSK as well.
Rohit Sharma's advice to Tilak Varma
Young MI batter Tilak Varma, who recently scored a brilliant century after a lean patch, also spoke about Rohit’s support. He said the senior player has played an important role in helping him regain confidence.
Tilak shared one piece of advice Rohit gave him: “Tu 15 balls khel le, uske baad humein pata hai tu kya kar sakta hai.”

Talking about his batting role, Tilak said he prefers batting at number three but is ready to play wherever the team needs him.
“I always love to bat No. 3. But I'm ready to bat in any position for the team,” Tilak said at the pre-match press conference.
Where MI and CSK stand in the points table?
On the points table, CSK are currently in seventh place with two wins from six matches, while MI are just one spot above them in sixth place with the same number of wins.
