Summer School Holiday 2026: The Chhattisgarh state government has officially announced the commencement of summer holidays for all educational institutions, effective from Monday, April 20, 2026. This decision comes as a proactive measure to protect students from the severe heatwave currently sweeping across the region. While the vacations were originally scheduled to begin later, the mercury rising above 42 degree celcuis in major districts like Raipur, Durg, and Bilaspur prompted Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to prioritise the health and safety of children by advancing the break by ten days.

This mandatory holiday order applies uniformly to all government-run, aided, unaided, and private schools throughout Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings that temperatures may surge toward 45 degree celcius in the coming week, making it hazardous for students to travel during peak afternoon hours. Consequently, schools will remain closed for nearly two months, with the new academic session now slated to resume on June 15, 2026.

School Holiday: Revised Summer Vacation Schedule and Academic Impact

The state government has restructured the academic calendar to accommodate the early closure while ensuring that the 2026–27 session remains on track. Following the closure on April 20, students will enjoy an extended break, providing relief from the adverse weather conditions.
