Uttarakhand School Holiday Tomorrow: Will Schools Remain Closed In These Districts On August 6 Amidst Heavy Rain Alerts?

Uttarakhand School Holiday: The Uttarakhand government has not yet announced any school closures for August 6, 2026. Besides the heavy rainfall forecast, the authorities have not announced any holiday for colleges, schools, and anganwadi centres tomorrow. Depending on the day-to-day weather forecast, orange alerts, and landslide risks, the local authorities will take necessary measures to announce school closures further. Students and parents are urged to be in contact with their respective schools to stay informed about any school closure updates.

Dehradun Schools Remain Closed Today Amid Heavy Rainfall Forecast

After the Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in the region, the Dehradun district administration declared a one-day holiday for all government and private schools from Classes 1 to 12, along with Anganwadi centres on Wednesday. The decision was taken as a safety measure to ensure the safety of students and school staff. Following the  IMD's orange alert for the district, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the Secretary of Disaster Management to remain on high alert and prepare accordingly for the extreme weather conditions. 

Weather Alerts For Nainital, Dehradun, Bageshwar Districts

Weather alerts have been issued for these districts, forecasting continuous heavy monsoonal rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. For Nainital and Bageshwar, orange alerts have been in effect, triggering highly vulnerable weather conditions. Following heavy rain alerts, localized flooding and rapid rise in water level are highly likely to occur. Residents and travellers in these areas are requested to monitor road conditions and limit their travel through mountain passes.

Students And Parents Should Follow Official Announcements

There is no certainty of the weather conditions in the state right now. In view of the IMD alerts, students and parents are advised to diligently monitor the official district administration announcements for school closures. Even though there is no school holiday in Nainital, Dehradun, and Bageshwar districts on August 6, unprecedented rain and risk of landslides may lead to district-specific decisions to close schools later in the day.
