Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is all set to return with Awarapan 2, the sequel to his 2007 film Awarapan. Ahead of its theatrical release, the film has received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the board has granted it a U/A 16+ certificate only after asking the makers to make several changes. The film will now release with a revised version after following the CBFC's guidelines.
Awarapan 2 Gets U/A 16+ Certificate

CBFC Orders Nine Changes To Awarapan 2
The censor board has told the filmmakers that nine changes have to be made to the movie. The most important among these changes is the reduction in the intensity of the violent scenes in the movie. In addition, the board has also asked the filmmakers to tone down the abuse in some portions of the film.
In addition to these changes, there are also other changes such as making disclaimers against drugs, smoking, and child trafficking. These additions are aimed at creating awareness while ensuring the film follows the required certification guidelines.

With these changes implemented, the duration of the movie has been altered as well. As per the Bollywood Hungama report, the new approved runtime of Awarapan 2 is 140 minutes and 20 seconds. The movie will be launched in the Hindi language with subtitles in English.
Release Date and Cast
Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, and Shabana Azmi in key roles. The film is directed by Nitin Kakkar and is scheduled to hit theatres on August 14, 2026.
