The controversy surrounding Bhumi Pednekar's remarks on the NEET-UG 2026 protests has intensified. Singer Neha Bhasin has now publicly disagreed with the actor's stance.
In a social media post, Neha said the conversation should not be limited to the abusive slogans allegedly directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She urged people to also address the alleged police action and the treatment of student protesters.
The row began after Bhumi shared an Instagram video expressing concern over the slogans allegedly raised against the Prime Minister during the NEET-UG 2026 protests.

While some supported her, many criticised the actor for not commenting on the alleged police action during the Sansad March held on July 20, sparking a wider debate online.
Neha said, "I would have really respected our dear PM more if there was calling out of police for openly, inappropriately touching women during the protests as he is offended by the use of gaalis. He himself said these are kids. But the police is appointed to protect and abide by the law. So why is there no accountability there."
She further added, "Bhumi Pednekar Lock Upp pe bhi scripted thi aur protests ko lekar bhi. Gooda nahi hai toh chup rehna best hai behen."
The controversy began after Bhumi shared a video condemning the abusive remarks allegedly directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the NEET-UG 2026 protests. She said such language was disrespectful and not a part of Indian culture.
