Assam Rape Case: Three people, including a minor, were arrested on Tuesday for the alleged rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Assam's Hailakandi. Police said the victim was in a relationship with the main accused and had been brutally assaulted using multiple objects. Officials said that the girl was found dead at her home near National Highway 6. The family said that the minor girl was brutally raped and murdered.
What Happened On That Day?
The incident reportedly took place in the Aloichora area under the Katlicherra police station at 11 pm on Saturday. The victim's family alleged they were attending a feast at a relative's house nearby at the time.
The victim’s mother alleged that the girl too went to the family gathering. However, she left the place shortly after an altercation broke out with her cousin. They thought of packing the feast for the girl.

As they returned home, the family was shocked to discover their daughter’s body lying on the floor. "It was horrible; how can a human treat another human, a little girl, in such a brutal manner?" the mother said, while demanding capital punishment for the accused.
The victim’s sister alleged that the girl’s body was mutilated using utensils and other objects.
What Did the Police Say?
The police officials said that the victim’s body was tortured using several objects. There were several injuries on the victim’s body. The Hailakandi SSP said one of the accused is 17 and a half years old, and an appeal has been made to the court to try him as an adult.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi, Samir Darpan Baruah, said, "The accused knew the house well. The girl and boy would communicate. We can't jump to any conclusions, but a thorough investigation is underway." The three accused have been booked under section 65(1) (rape of a girl under 16), 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
