In a major relief for RAC passengers, the Ministry of Railways has once again directed railway authorities to provide complete bedroll kits to all passengers traveling on Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) tickets.
The move comes after the ministry received repeated complaints from passengers across the country alleging that RAC travelers were either not being provided with bedroll kits or were receiving incomplete kits during their journey.
RAC Passengers to Receive Complete Bedroll Kits
The Ministry of Railways has reiterated its earlier instructions to all railway zones, directing them to ensure that every passenger traveling on a Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) ticket is provided with a complete bedroll kit, including linen and blankets.
Under the RAC system, two passengers are allotted the same berth for travel. However, in a letter issued on August 4, the ministry noted that it continues to receive complaints through various channels that RAC passengers are either not receiving bedroll kits or are being provided with incomplete kits.
The ministry stated, "Complaints are still being received through various channels regarding RAC passengers either not receiving bedroll kits or being provided with incomplete bedroll kits."
Reiterating its earlier directive, the ministry said, "The Railway Board's instructions must be strictly followed to ensure that every RAC passenger traveling in AC coaches (except AC Chair Car) is provided with a complete bedroll kit, just like any other regular passenger traveling in the coach."
According to the Railway Ministry's latest order, even when two passengers share the same berth under the RAC system, each passenger must be provided with a separate and complete bedroll kit, ensuring they receive the same facilities as all other passengers traveling in AC coaches.
