Jagran Correspondent, Srinagar: A cloudburst struck Nandi Marg in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday evening. As a result, the water flow suddenly increased, triggering fash floods in the area.

Cloudbursts In Shopian, Kupwara, Pulwama

Just two days ago, on Monday, the weather took a sudden turn, causing widespread devastation in Jammu and Kashmir. Flash floods following cloudbursts in Shopian, Kupwara, Pulwama, and Anantnag districts affected residential areas, flooding homes and disrupting road connectivity.

In Shopian, rescue teams evacuated around 80. A woman was killed after she was swept away in the strong current of flood waters in the Lolab area of Kupwara.

Heavy rains disrupted traffic near the Langnai Bridge on the Aishmuqam-Pahalgam road. The Langnai Batkoot Bridge was also damaged by the strong water flow. Following a cloudburst in the upper reaches of Shopian, water suddenly surged through the Javura, Badrahama, and Kijarsinda areas. Several houses were flooded, causing panic among locals.

Heavy Rain, Cloudburst Cause Flash Floods In Safapora

Another cloudburst was reported in the Safapora area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district triggered flash floods, submerging houses, shops, orchards, and roads on August 2.

Heavy rain and a cloudburst in the upper reaches triggered flash flooding in Safapora, causing local drains and drainage channels to rise rapidly, according to a report by jagran.com. A sudden flow of muddy water submerged roads and low-lying areas, halting vehicular traffic and disrupting normal life across the region.

Floodwaters also entered several homes, shops, and orchards, damaging household items and sparking significant crop loss concerns among local gardeners.

Speaking to jagran.com, officials said the flash floods caused water levels to rise rapidly, creating panic among residents. As water began entering houses, dozens of families were forced to flee to safer locations.

The worst-affected areas in Safapora included Kohistan Colony, Gulab Sheikh Colony, and Bakshi Mohalla, where floodwaters entered homes, damaging household items and disrupting daily life.
