Delhi Weather Update: Delhi residents woke up to heavy rain lashing the national capital on Thursday morning, bringing much-needed relief from the humid weather. Visuals from the Mayur Vihar area and Pandit Pant Marg showed slow-moving traffic as commuters navigated the roads amid downpours.

Monsoon Spell Continues In Capital City

The capital city has been experiencing intermittent rainfall amid the monsoon's strong presence across the northern states. The recurrent spells of rain have kept temperatures in check, offering relief to residents. However, it has also exposed the city's poor drainage system as several areas continue to face waterlogging after the heavy rain.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Delhi

Amid change in weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi today. It has predicted cloudy skies across the national capital, with one or two spells of light rain at most places. Moderate rain is likely at a few locations during the forenoon and afternoon hours. Another spell of very light to light rain is expected at many places in the evening and at night. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are currently in the range of 31-34 degrees Celsius and 24-27 degrees Celsius respectively.

Rain Warnings For 19 States

Meanwhile, in its all-India weather bulletin, the IMD noted that the influence of a monsoon trough and an active cyclonic circulation have completely changed the weather patterns across North, East, and Central India. It has issued orange and yellow alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall across 19 states today. The weather department has kept Uttarakhand on high alert and stated that the hilly districts are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday.

Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are expected to witness thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning today. The IMD has also issued heavy rain warnings for Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura.
