Delhi Woman Confronts Rapido Driver For 'Watching Porn' And 'Masturbating' While Driving; He Replies, 'Videshi Video Tha'

In a disturbing incident, a woman in Delhi alleged that an auto driver was watching porn videos during the ride. The woman, identified as Sukanya Dutta, originally hails from Assam. In the widely circulated video, she alleged that she booked an auto ride from Delhi’s Model Town to Safdarjung in Delhi.

The incident had taken place on August 2, Sunday, when the woman, who claims to be a researcher, booked a Rapido ride at around 8.48 pm. Shortly, after boarding the auto, it halted at a signal. A woman sitting in a nearby vehicle alerted her that the driver was watching some inappropriate content. The moment, the fellow commuter pointed at him, he had put his phone away.

The woman then confronted him, asking, "What was he watching?" The woman also revealed that the man was even touching himself and masturbating.  According to her, he did not deny watching explicit content, instead claiming he was "just watching bideshi videos of women wearing chote chote kapde."

There were still 30 minutes left to reach her destination; she chose not to get off the vehicle. Instead, she stayed on until she reached a crowded area she was familiar with, believing it was the safer option.

In the post, Dutta thanked the unidentified woman biker whose intervention first alerted her to the situation. Reflecting on the experience, she wrote, "People often ask women, 'Why didn't you just get off?' But that's the reality of being a woman; we're constantly calculating risk."

Woman Contacted Rapido Safety

The woman then contacted Rapido Safety and informed them that she was feeling unsafe and that the driver was watching pornography. However, she claimed she did not receive any immediate response while the ride was still in progress. 

The team responded around 12 hours later, claiming that they would address the issue. Responding to the incident, Rapido said the driver had been permanently barred from the platform following a review of his "unprofessional behavior."

“A thorough review of the interactions will be conducted to identify areas of improvement and strengthen our processes to ensure timely and appropriate support, particularly in safety-related situations,” they wrote in response.

The company also apologised for the experience and said it would examine its handling of the complaint to improve its safety response in the future.
