A new video of a mid-air scare on the Air India Phuket-Delhi flight, which suffered turbulence on Tuesday, has surface were a crew member could be heard making a frantic plea to passengers to fasten their seat belts.

The video, which has since gone viral, gives a glimpse of what passengers and crew went through in the Air India flight AI379. The cabin crew yells, "Please fasten your seat belts. Nobody should get up. Fasten your seat belts."

The video shows luggage scattered on the floor and cracks in the cabin ceiling. The incident left 17 wounded. The plane landed safely in Delhi at around 11 AM.

After the landing, the passengers on board narrated the horror, with one saying, "It felt as if death was certain today." According to the airline, a total of 137 passengers and eight crew members were onboard when the turbulence caused an altitude drop by approximately 300 feet.

In a statement, Air India said, "A small number of passengers and crew members with minor injuries requiring medical assessment have been taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary examination and care by Air India's airport team and medical personnel".

The 30-second short video wherein passengers could be seen in panic also showcased the extent of damage as flaps of the overhead bins were lying aside and the ceiling developed cracks.

The video has been shared by an X user named Minchen, who claimed to be on the flight. Calling the experience his worst two hours of life, Minchen urged, "Please, please, please always wear your seatbelt on a plane, even when the seatbelt sign is off."

He recounted "people being thrown into the air, hitting their heads, and getting injured." "For a while, I genuinely thought we weren’t going to make it. I hope everyone is okay!" he added. A woman, one of the passengers, could be seen with her head down on her hands.

An Italian passenger, Viviana, said her sister was thrown from her seat, her mother suffered a head injury, and several people nearby were injured. "We thought we were sure to die. It was terrifying," she said. Among the injured were 13 passengers and 4 crew members. The injured were admitted to Fortis, Medanta, and other hospitals.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has preserved the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder for examination. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is investigating the incident. Minister Ram Mohan Naidu met with the injured.
