State Bureau, Chandigarh: The demand for expanding the hydrogen rail network in Haryana has now reached Parliament. During Zero Hour, BJP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Bhatia urged the central government to connect the Jind-Panipat (via Rohtak) and Jind-Hisar (via Jakhal) rail routes to the hydrogen rail network, following the operation of the country's first indigenous hydrogen fuel-cell train on the Jind-Sonipat section.
He said that this could make Haryana a leading hub for green rail transport in the country. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Sanjay Bhatia said that the operation of India's first indigenous hydrogen train from Jind is a matter of pride for all of Haryana. This achievement is a historic step towards clean energy, a self-reliant India, and modern rail technology.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha in a Haryanvi dialect, Bhatia said, "Do your work in such a way that the world keeps watching." India has made a mark in the field of hydrogen fuel-cell technology, and Haryana is leading this change. According to him, hydrogen-based rail transport will provide a strong foundation for environmental protection and a sustainable transportation system in the future.
Bhatia said that the Jind-Panipat and Jind-Hisar railway lines are crucial for agriculture, industry, trade, education, and employment. Running hydrogen trains on these routes will provide modern, fast, and environmentally friendly transportation for farmers, students, employees, businessmen, and the industry. It will also help connect the state's major industrial and economic regions with a green transportation network.
He urged the central government to expand the scope of the hydrogen rail project in Haryana and include these two important rail routes soon. Bhatia said that Haryana, a leader in agriculture, industry, sports, and education, also has the potential to lead the country in clean energy-based rail transportation.
