On the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 on Wednesday, India lambasted Pakistan for its remarks during its annual "Youm-e-Istehsal" observance, calling them 'political absurdity.'

Randhir Jaiswal, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, was asked by the media about Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar's statement, to which he responded, "India categorically rejects the political absurdity and futile attempts by Pakistan to observe the so-called Youm-e-Istehsal to spread malicious propaganda against India."

He emphasised that the constitutional changes made on August 5, 2019, were "entirely an internal matter of India." Jaiswal also added that the decision has brought "unprecedented socio-economic development, good governance, and democratic empowerment" to the people of the region.

Reiterating India's stance that Pakistan has no 'locus standi' on Kashmir, he added, the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh "are, have always been, and shall forever remain an integral and inalienable part of India."

Notably, Pakistan has been observing "Youm-e-Istehsal" (“Day of Exploitation"), an annual event to protest the revocation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

"The world is not fooled by these orchestrated spectacles," the MEA sent a strong message while asking Pakistan to "stop the bloodshed in PoJK" and take "credible, verifiable, and irreversible action" against terror networks thriving on its soil.

Jaiswal also seized the opportunity to call out Islamabad's repeated attempts to divert global attention from its terror hub.

"Pakistan’s desperate attempts to peddle falsehoods are intended solely to deflect international attention from its own dismal human rights record and its status as the global epicentre of terrorism," Jaiswal said.
