Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken strict action regarding the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway. Project Director Nakul Prakash Verma has been removed in connection with the collapse of the expressway road. In his place, Bareilly Project Director Navratna has been given new responsibilities.
The toll on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway has been suspended until further orders. A team from IIT Kharagpur will inspect the expressway on-site within two days and submit a report within the next week. A show-cause notice has also been issued to former project director Saurabh Chaurasia.

Gautam Vishal, Regional Officer of National Highways of India Lucknow Zone, told in a press conference that action will be taken against the Kadai Sanstha PNC as a non-performer. Apart from this, the Kadai Sanstha will also compensate for the losses incurred so far and the toll will also be reimbursed by the organisation given the work.
Additionally, all repair work will be completed by August 6. Currently, a 5-kilometre diversion has been implemented on the expressway.

About 30 feet of the newly inaugurated Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway caved in at two locations on in on July just days after the high-speed corridor was opened to the public on July 13.
The road collapsed near Korari on the Unnao-to-Lucknow carriageway. Nearly 30 feet of the road collapsed, creating a gaping trench filled with rainwater now. Similarly, another portion about 8 feet wide had collapsed about a kilometre before the Bani toll plaza on the same segment.
After the incident, work began on rebuilding the affected parts by the construction agency Patel Infrastructure, which erected barriers to advise motorists, but repairs at Bani toll plaza have not started yet.
Earlier, several instances of roadside soil erosion had also been reported along the expressway. The approach road near Achalganj has developed cave-ins, while patchwork is required at multiple locations. Motorists have also complained of jerks while crossing expansion joints on bridges and culverts.
