Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow Police have booked three unidentified drivers for allegedly vandalising a school van carrying students near Charak Crossing under the Chowk police station area on Monday morning. The incident reportedly occurred when the van suddenly braked, causing a motorcycle to ram into it from behind. Enraged by the minor crash, a group of men smashed the vehicle's rear windshield and side mirror before fleeing the scene. Videos circulating on social media showed the window glass of the school van broken and schoolgirls left standing on the road.

While reports and social media posts alleged that individuals participating in the Kanwar Yatra vandalised the van, the police have not confirmed the identity of the individuals.

Police Launch Investigation, Confirm Safety of Children

Upon receiving information, police rushed to the scene, though the suspects had already fled. In an official statement, authorities said that no children were injured during the incident.

"At Charak Crossing under Chowk police station today, three unidentified vehicle drivers vandalised a school van in the morning. On getting information, police reached the spot, but by then, the unidentified drivers had fled. A case has been registered, and strict action will be taken against the guilty," PTI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Kamlesh Kumar Dixit as saying.

Incident Triggers Public Outrage Online

The incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media platforms. Many users expressed concern, with one post stating, "Scary that people are doing all this in the name of religion."

Several netizens argued that authorities should consider suspending normal activities to ensure safety during the Yatra. "Better to shut down all schools and offices when the Kanwar Yatra is going on," read one comment.
