An empty train coach derailed on Mumbai's Central Line on Monday morning. The incident occurred at Dombivali Railway Station. According to information received from Central Railway, the empty rake was heading from Kalwa Car Shed towards Kalyan when it suddenly derailed. As a result, several up line trains were delayed by more than 15 minutes. During this time, about three local trains were stranded on the line.

However, railway officials and technical teams arrived at the scene to carry out repairs. Officials stated that efforts are underway to restore services. A passenger reported that the derailment affected slow trains running on the Central Line between Dombivali and Thakurli. Services have resumed, but are still running behind schedule.

Slow Line Trains Affected

According to passenger reports, fast trains from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Kalyan are running on time, while slow trains are running late by about 6 minutes. From Kalyan to CSMT, fast trains are running late by about 9 minutes, and slow trains are running late by about 16 minutes.

The Divisional Railway Manager of Central Railway (CR) said that due to the derailment of an EMU rake at Dombivali station, train services on the down slow line between Diva and Kalyan are currently affected. "Down slow line services are being operated via the down fast line from Diva to Kalyan," the CR DRM said in a post on X.

Railway Team Busy At work

He further said, "Our technical team is working diligently to resolve this issue and restore train services on the DN slow line between Diva and Kalyan at the earliest. Passengers are requested to bear with us for the inconvenience caused."

A video shared on social media platforms shows a large crowd waiting for a local train on the platform of Dombivali railway station. The video also shows a local train stranded at the station, with passengers jumping out of the stalled train.
