The opposition leader in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Mata Prasad Pandey, headed the delegation; this delegation was formed on the instructions of SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Yadav had directed that the delegation look at the issue, hear the complaints of employees, and communicate their complaints to the appropriate authorities.
“The labourers from the companies here had been subjected to exploitation for a long time; they were raising their voices and staging sit-ins to protest against this exploitation. Neither the administration paid any heed, nor did the appointed Labour Commissioner or the Labour Inspector take any action against their exploitation. When the government failed to take notice, the situation escalated to such an extent that they resorted to a lathi-charge," Pandey said.
When asked about the Pakistan connection in the Noida Violence, he says, "I do not know that aspect. If the government is convinced of a Pakistan connection, then let them fight against Pakistan; why are they creating obstructions here. Let them apprehend the Pakistanis and punish them. We have not come here to obstruct anything; we have merely come to inquire about the well-being of those who have suffered injustice. Let us see where the police take us and what they do," he added.
Earlier, Noida Police identified Aditya Anand, a former student of NIT Jamshedpur, as the mastermind behind the violent workers' protests in Noida over a pay hike. Police have identified three main perpetrators of the violence, two of whom have been arrested, while Aditya remains at large.
Additionally, the police have also found two X accounts, operating from Pakistan, to have played a major role in inciting the riots.
The protests erupted on Monday after company workers in Noida's Phase 2 (Hosiery Complex) turned violent. There was heavy stone-pelting, and vehicles were torched. Police investigations have revealed that this was not a spontaneous protest, but a well-planned conspiracy.
