Parliament Monsoon Session Live Updates: Amid the ongoing monsoon session of the parliament, the opposition parties are likely to continue their protests over demands for discussion on the alleged use of excessive police force against the students on July 20. The opposition MPs have been persistent on the demands of an explanation and apology from Home Minister Amit Shah over the police action. Apart from this, they have also been demanding a special discussion on the alleged theft in the donation of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Earlier on Wednesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju met with the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, to ease the deadlock. As per the reports, both the senior leaders discussed several key bills likely to be proposed in the current session. The reports also suggested that Rijiju urged Gandhi to ask the opposition MPs to not create a ruckus and participate in the discussions.
However, Rahul Gandhi reportedly did not give any such assurance, leading to suspense over the smooth functioning of the parliament. While the government has accused the opposition of disrupting the proceedings, the INDIA bloc MPs have questioned the absence of Amit Shah, further seeking his response on the controversy.
