Pune-Bengaluru Expressway: In a major update for the commuters, the centre is soon likely to approve the proposed Pune-Bengaluru greenfield expressway. The officials stated that the government is expected to approve the project in the upcoming weeks, adding that the construction work will also begin soon. The expressway will provide relief to thousands of passengers by significantly cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion. Along with this, the project will also boost the financial activities in several regions.

Pune-Bengaluru Expressway Details:

- The project is likely to be around 700 km long and will have at least six lanes

- The estimated cost for the project is between Rs 45,000 crore and Rs 50,000 crore

- As per the plan, the expressway will pass through several districts of Maharashtra and Karnataka

- The expressway will begin from Pune and will pass through several regions, including Satara, Sangli, Belagavi, Vijayanagara, and Davanagere

- The project is likely to cut the travel time from 14-15 hours to approximately 7 hours

- It is also expected to significantly reduce the traffic congestion in several districts

- The expressway will allow the motorists to reach Bengaluru's Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) from Pune Outer Ring Road in less than eight hours

- Along with improving the passenger's experience, it will also boost the commercial movement

The officials stated that detailed land acquisition, alignment finalisation and groundwork will begin once the project is approved. Apart from this, the residents of Karnataka and Maharashtra have urged the central cabinet to approve the project, adding that it will significantly cut the travel time. “All the people from this region of Maharashtra and Karnataka are sincerely requesting quick approval of this crucial greenfield expressway project,” stakeholders were quoted as saying by Times Now.
