In a major terror crackdown, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested and interrogated four suspected terrorists influenced by ISIS and Al-Qaeda (AQIS) from three states. Their questioning and mobile data analysis have revealed the possible involvement of around 10 more individuals. Acting on these inputs, central agencies and the Special Cell have launched search operations across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha to trace the remaining suspects.

Officials said the accused were connected through various online groups but had no direct links to any established terror handler. According to a Jagran.com report, they were self-radicalised and were using internet platforms to recruit and indoctrinate youths, without receiving specific operational instructions.

The four accused identified as Mosaib Ahmad alias Sonu (Azamgarh), Mohammad Hammad (Mumbai), Sheikh Imran (Bhubaneswar), and Mohammad Sohail (Katihar) were arrested by a team led by DCP Praveen Kumar Tripathi. They were allegedly conspiring to carry out attacks in the name of establishing “Khilafat” and “Ghazwa-e-Hind.”

Investigations revealed that the suspects operated through encrypted platforms, where some functioned as administrators while others were members. They were actively engaged in spreading extremist ideology and recruiting youths for jihad.

Two members of the module were reportedly assembling a remote-controlled IED using locally sourced materials, while another was encouraging others to procure weapons and explosives for terror activities.

Key Targets Included Ram Temple, Parliament, Military Installations

Investigators said the group was planning attacks on high-profile targets, including the Ayodhya Ram Temple, Parliament, and military installations. They had begun gathering materials for explosives, but the plot was foiled before it could be executed due to timely arrests.

In recent months, arrests of terrorists linked to Pakistan-based groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, along with ISIS-inspired operatives in the Delhi-NCR region, have raised concerns among central agencies and local police.

In response, authorities have intensified surveillance on online platforms, leading to the identification and arrest of several radicalised youths across the country.
