Special Parliament Session:The special session of the parliament has begun on Thursday, during which the Centre tabled three key bills, including on delimitation and women's reservation. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the debate on women’s reservation and delimitation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that the process would not discriminate against anyone and would remain fair to all sections. He further stated that the existing seat distribution ratio, as established earlier, would not be altered and would continue in the same manner.

Earlier on Thursday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge chaired a meeting of the opposition parties. He stated that the opposition continues to support the women reservation bill; however, he raised concerns on the way it is being implemented.

The NDA government has proposed to proceed with the available data of the 2011 census for the purposes of delimitation and implementation of one-third reservation for women legislators. As per the rules, a commission would be formed for the delimitation bill. However, the other two bills require a majority of two-thirds of the parliamentarians present in the session. The majority mark in the Lok Sabha is 360, but the Centre has only 293 members. Apart from this, the centre is 21 seats short of the magic number of 163 in the Rajya Sabha.

Otherwise, you will face a crushing defeat in the Uttar Pradesh elections and the Bengal elections of 2027. Women must step forward. They are capable...
