In view of the increasing rush of passengers during the summer season, Indian Railways is set to add two summer special trains via Chhapra to Delhi to meet passenger demand.
According to the Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway, one of the trains will run every day while the other will operate weekly, providing much-needed help for passengers travelling from Bihar to Delhi.

The first train service is the 04072/04071 New Delhi-Supaul-New Delhi Summer Special. It will run every day from New Delhi from April 17 through July 15 except for May 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27. The service will leave New Delhi at 7:00 AM every day and will arrive at Chhapra Junction by 7:30 PM the next day.
The train will stop at key stations:
- Ghaziabad
- Aligarh
- Tundla
- Etawah
- Prayagraj Junction
- Varanasi
- Ghazipur City
- Ballia
- Suremanpur
- Sonpur
- Hajipur
- Chhapra
The second train service is the 04008/04007 Anand Vihar Terminal-Jogbani-Anand Vihar Terminal Weekly Summer Special, which will run from Anand Vihar Terminal every Saturday from April 18 through July 11 and will arrive at Chhapra at 1:55 AM the following morning.
On its return trip, this train leaves Jogbani every Sunday and arrives in Chhapra at 7:10 AM. No service will run on May 23.

The route will pass through:
- Ghaziabad
- Moradabad
- Bareilly
- Gonda
- Gorakhpur
- Sonapur
- Hajipur
- Barauni
- Katihar
- Purnia
- Araria Court
Both trains are equipped with sufficient AC, Sleeper and General Coach facilities to ensure comfortable passenger accommodation. Officials say Summer Special Train services will help alleviate congestion and enhance access during peak travel periods on Trains.
