Case Reaches Supreme Court

On Thursday, Ashwini Upadhyay, an advocate, filed an appeal in the Supreme Court to declare that force and manipulation for converting a person to a different religion is a major problem for maintaining India's cohesiveness. Upadhyay cited the Nasik TCS harassment case in the plea.

"The Organised Religious Conversion in Nasik has shaken the conscience of citizens throughout the country. Therefore, the petitioner is filing this application seeking directions and declarations to control deceitful religious conversion, which is a serious threat to sovereignty, secularism, democracy, equality, justice, liberty, fraternity, unity and national integration," ANI quoted the plea.
