Sankarshan Chaturthi 2026: According to the Hindu Panchang, the Sankarsana Ganesha Vrat is observed on the day of Vaishakh Shukla Chaturthi. On this day, special worship is offered to the Sankarshana form of Lord Ganesha. As per the scriptures, Lord Ganesha manifested during the midday (Madhyahna) period. Sankarshan Chaturthi 2026: Significance

The importance of fasting on Vaishakh Shukla Chaturthi cannot be underestimated for followers of Hinduism. On this day, Lord Ganesha is venerated in His incarnation of Sumukh. The Chaturthi tithi is of great importance to Lord Ganesha as per the Puranas. It is believed that by fasting and worshipping on this auspicious day, all obstructions are overcome, and happiness and prosperity enter a person’s life. As the month of Vaisakh is favoured by Lord Vishnu, fasting on this day proves to be most rewarding.

Sankarshan Chaturthi 2026: Rituals

To perform puja on Sankarshan Chaturthi, start with taking a bath in the morning and then make a vow to keep fast during the day. Set up a statue of Lord Ganesha on a piece of red cloth. Conduct the Shodashopchar Puja by offering Durva, Sindoor, Laddoos and Modak to Him. Then, it is believed to be very favourable to read the Ganesha Atharvashirsha as well as the twelve holy names of Lord Ganesha. Fast completely or follow a diet of fruits (Phalahar), according to your physical ability.
