Ubisoft may finally be ready to reveal the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, a title that has been part of rumours for months now. The studio had already teased concept art in March, hinting that something was coming soon.
Now, a fresh report suggests the remake, reportedly titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, could launch on July 9, 2026.

Reveal Delayed But Announcement Expected Soon
The game was initially expected to be revealed on April 16, but plans seem to have shifted. According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft has pushed the announcement to next week instead.
While nothing is official yet, the timeline suggests the reveal is not far away, with a full release potentially following just weeks later.
Not An RPG This Time
One of the biggest shifts being reported is around gameplay direction. Unlike recent titles in the franchise, the Black Flag remake is said to move away from RPG mechanics.
Modern entries like Assassin’s Creed Shadows leaned heavily into large open-world RPG systems. Even so, Ubisoft experimented with a different approach in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which scaled things back.
The remake is expected to follow that route more closely, focusing on a “solo adventure and character-driven experience” instead of RPG-style progression.
Reworked Gameplay And New Improvements
The report claims the remake has been “completely reworked,” suggesting more than just visual upgrades. There is anticipated to be improvement in aspects such as combat scenes, faster load times, and overall gameplay experience.
While earlier leaks indicated the addition of some RPG components, it seems like Ubisoft may be reconsidering its approach to reviving older games.
A Timeless Game That Set the Standard for the Series
Black Flag was first published in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms and has been among the best games in the series ever since.
The game features the adventure of Edward Kenway, who roams the Caribbean islands as he gets embroiled in a battle between Assassins and Templars.
Looking Forward
While these are all speculations as the company hasn't officially revealed anything regarding their upcoming project, it is expected that Ubisoft will make an announcement any time soon. In fact, it could launch as early as July this year.
